Claim ITC on Flipkart purchases, Who Can Claim ITC on BBD Purchases?

You can generally claim ITC only if all of these are true:

1

You are a regular GST-registered taxpayer. Composition dealers cannot claim ITC.

2

The item is bought for business use, not personal use.

3

The tax invoice carries your business name and GSTIN.

4

You have received the goods.

5

The seller has reported the invoice and paid the tax, so it shows in your GSTR-2B.

6

You claim in time: by 30 November following the financial year end, or the date you file the annual return, whichever is earlier.

If you make exempt supplies or use an item partly for personal purposes, part of the credit may need to be apportioned or reversed. Ask your CA.

3

Claim ITC on Flipkart purchases: 7 Steps

1

Check the product offers a GST invoice. On marketplaces the seller issues the invoice, not Flipkart. Unregistered sellers give no ITC.

2

Add your GSTIN before you pay. Use the GST invoice option at checkout and enter your business name and GSTIN exactly as registered. Wording varies by product and seller. An invoice issued without GSTIN usually cannot be corrected later.

3

Check billing details. The invoice must be in the name of the registered person claiming credit.

4

Download the invoice on delivery. Verify GSTIN, HSN, rate and tax split. See our guide to GST invoice mandatory fields.

5

Record it in your books. Base value as expense or fixed asset, GST as input tax.

6

Check GSTR-2B. If the invoice does not appear, contact the seller. Never claim credit that is not reflected.

7

Claim in GSTR-3B. Report eligible ITC under all other ITC. Capital goods like laptops and ACs are generally claimed here too.

Net Cost Example: โ‚น59,000 Laptop

6

Do Bank Offers Affect Your ITC?

  • ITC is available only on the GST shown on the invoice. Check the taxable value the seller invoiced.
  • A cashback credited later does not usually change the invoice. Ask your CA how to account for it.
  • Keep the payment trail for your records.

Smart Buying Tips for Business Buyers

๐Ÿ”

Compare before you buy. “Lowest ever” tags are everywhere. Our free PriceRadar India tool opens live results across Amazon, Flipkart, Croma and more, so you compare the prices you see yourself.

๐Ÿงฎ

Count the net cost. Effective cost = price after discounts minus the ITC you can claim.

โฐ

Buy early for high-demand items. Prices and stock can change quickly.

๐Ÿงพ

Check the rate on the invoice. GST rates on several appliances and electronics were revised in 2025. Confirm via the HSN code list.

๐Ÿ“

Keep proof of business use for assets like laptops, especially if you also use them personally.
